Have you ever noticed that the handle of most coffee mugs is formed like half a heart? I find it interesting that the human hand fits so comfortably into such a symbolic shape. After all, don’t we use our hands to express love in so many ways – holding someone’s hand, touching them gently, or giving them a back rub. I took advantage of the handle’s shape today to help me with my Valentine’s theme; I shone a bright light adjacent to a coffee mug, so that the shadow created would complete the handle’s heart. I think the result is quite endearing, and, if nothing else, reflects how many of us feel about our morning cup of joe!
