Sleepless Sky: A Night of Unexpected Color

Some nights follow the rules. And some nights forget to sleep.

This one stayed awake for hours — glowing, shifting, pulling color across the dark like it was painting in slow motion.

We weren’t supposed to see an aurora here,
or in so many of the places it reached.
But one by one, we stepped outside — curious, hopeful — and found the sky alive with impossible color.

I didn’t go out to take photographs.
I just followed the color, the same way so many others did that night.

These images aren’t about photographic accuracy so much as memory —
the way the color felt,
the way the trees turned to silhouettes wrapped in red light,
the way the night kept surprising us long after it should have gone dark.

Nature flexed.
We were just lucky enough to witness it.
