There are only patterns, patterns on top of patterns, patterns that affect other patterns.

Patterns hidden by patterns. Patterns within patterns.  – Chuck Palahniuk

Focus:  Texture/Pattern

Consistently I am drawn to patterns, rhythms, and textures and I love to include them in photographs.  The two photos I have posted to today are completely different – one is a color saturated section of an office building at sunset, and the other is a completely unsaturated photo of construction workers through a chain link fence.  Despite the difference in subject matter, the two photos are connected in their use of pattern to keep the eye moving throughout the frame.  I find focusing on patterns is an interesting way to add life to otherwise mundane subject matters.
