To me, eyewear goes way beyond being a prescription. It’s like makeup. It’s the most incredible accessory. The shape of a frame or the color of lenses can change your whole appearance. – Vera Wang
Focus: Commercial Photography
Today I did some commercial work for Vision Care Specialists, an eyecare group in the Metro Denver area. They are getting ready to launch a newly revamped website and they want to feature some of their high-end and specialty eyewear pieces on their website. When I say high-end, I truly mean high-end: Alain Mikli, LaFont, Oliver Peoples, JF Rey, and other ‘ooo-la-la’ brands.
Being a portrait photographer, it was interesting for me to shift gears and work with inanimate objects. While the technical aspects of photography remained the same (lighting, positioning, DOF, etc.), I had to stretch myself a bit to find new ways to inject ‘personality’ into my images. Usually, I play off the interaction between myself and the person I am photographing to give my images life. But, obviously, that type of interaction just wasn’t going to happen today. I needed to find other ways to get these frames to show off their unique personalities. My challenge: How do I make them look Sophisticated? Trendy? Expensive? Cool? It was an excellent exercise in stretching my creativity. Here is just a sampling of the results.
Congratulations on branching out! Very professional! National Geographic should be calling any day now … :o)
Thanks!
These are fantastic!
Thank you!!
