…and it’s spring when the world is puddle-wonderful.  – e.e. cummings

Focus:  Abstract

These photos could be titled ‘Scenes from a Stormy Day’, as they chronicle the sequence of weather that passed through Denver today.  The morning was cool, and everything was misty and dewy from the soft rain that had fallen all night.  Around midday, a fast and furious hail storm blew through the city.  The skies opened up, the wind howled, the thunder and lightning put on a raucous show, and an inch or more of hail piled up on the rooftops, the streets, and gardens.  Then, as quickly as the storm arrived, it moved onward, leaving behind a world dripping wet and at once invigorated and exhausted by the wild spring weather.

The first two photos below are of my garden dripping with raindrops in the morning light.  Those photos are followed by images of the hail storm, which conveniently struck just as I had to pick my son up from school.  The final photo (and the one above) are reflections in puddles that remained in the streets after the storm had passed.  I’m not sure which is my favorite – I think they all pretty much capture the mood of the day pretty well.
