Once you have traveled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers… the mind can never break off from the journey.

FOCUS:  30 Days of Thanks

Today I am thankful for vacations.  Who doesn’t love a vacation?  Whether we escape to a distant land, or spend a weekend in a nearby town, a vacation is a chance to break from the everyday to see new places, meet new people, refresh our spirits and reconnect with loved ones.

No matter where I have traveled, I have always brought home a token object as a reminder of where I’ve been.  The object can be anything really, but rocks, shells and sand represent my largest collection so far.  These items are small, easy to pack and are a way to quite literally bring a place home with you.  The photo above is a small sampling of my sand collection.  Some of my jars hold sand from warm, tropical beaches, others from rocky northern shores, but each of them is a reminder of a vacation and good times I have had with family and friends.  By simply picking up a jar, pulling off the cork and taking a deep breath I can instantly transport myself to another place and another time.  It is like time travel in a bottle.
