Where there's smoke... Wildfires are burning up the west, and it shows.  The smoke from the California and Southern Oregon fires has made its way into Colorado, coloring our skies a bleak greyish-brown and the sun disturbing color of orange tonight. Feels a bit apocalyptic.

Almost every person, from childhood, has been touched by the untamed beauty of wildflowers. -Lady Bird Johnson Don't you just love it when you plant something and it actually grows?  I'm loving my tiny little wildflower garden right now.  At 10'x10' she's is small, but she is mighty!

Creativity is contagious.  Pass it on. - Albert Einstein We always have a great time at the annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival!  With over 250 exhibitors and 300,000 visitors over a three-day weekend, the festival is a fun and inspiring way to spend a couple hours.   Although photography is my chosen art form, I find...   Bachelor's Button The wildflower seeds I planted back in May are starting to bloom.  As it turns out, I didn't spread too many seeds and just the right amount have decided to take root (hooray for heavy handing it!)  Among the first to blossom are the Bachelor Buttons - such sweet little things in glorious... Lightning is Mother Nature's fireworks. Last night's fireworks display was electrifying to say the least!  Mother Nature rolled in with her own fabulous display of wicked heat lightning to add to the magic of the man-made pyrotechnics.  The result was surreal and absolutely FABULOUS! Of note:  These images are simply outtakes from an iPhone video... Continue Reading →

Imagine a multidimensional spider's web in the early morning covered with dew drops.  And every dew drop contains the reflection of all the other dew drops.  And, in each reflected dew drop, the reflections of all the other dew drops in that reflection.  And so ad infinitum.  That is the Buddhist conception of the universe... Interrupt anxiety with gratitude. Value = (Reward x Probability of Success) / (Delay x Impulsiveness) I took over 1,700 photos at my niece's wedding last weekend, so forgive me if my motivation for this Project 365 is a little lacking this week.  My creative focus has been elsewhere... As I struggled to come up with... Continue Reading →

It's so dry the trees are bribing the dogs. - Charles Martin, Chasing Fireflies We haven't seen any real rain in Denver since mid-May, and boy does it show.  Everything is absolutely parched.  Here is a before/after comparison of my dust covered shoes from my walk along the (completely dry) Highline Canal this morning.  Needless... Today is a multiple cups of espresso kind of day. After a marathon day yesterday photographing my niece's wedding, I needed several shots of this deliciously rich elixir to keep me going today.  A special thanks to my daughter who provided the cute little elephant espresso cup as a gift from her recent travels to... Art is everywhere.  Everywhere is art. Our main sprinkler line burst today, flooding the crawl space. A few days ago, a toilet supply line ruptured inside the house flooding the bathroom and seeping into the basement ceiling. Fun times. #homeownership  #reallife

2018 Denver Chalk Art Festival The annual chalk art festival is one of my favorite summer events in Denver.  The event features more than 200 professional and amateur artists, who spend hours on their hand and knees transforming the streets of Denver into a colorful art museum.  The talent and creativity of these artists is...
