Beware the ides of March.   – William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

FOCUS:  Still Life

Today is March 15th – the ‘Ides of March’ – a day made notorious by the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 B.C.   This day was famously dramatized in William Shakespeare’s play when a soothsayer warns ‘Beware the ides of March’ which foretells of Caesar’s impending death.  This dire warning has forever imbued this day with feelings of darkness and foreboding.
