In the entire circle of the year there are no days so delightful as those of a fine October, when the trees are bare to the mild heavens, and the red leaves bestrew the road, and you can feel the breath of winter morning and evening—no days so calm, so tenderly solemn, and with such a reverent meekness in the air. ~Alexander Smith
FOCUS: Digital Art
Today was another cold, grey day, which is very unusual for sunny Colorado. I went over to the park this morning and took some photographs, which I used as the basis of these two digital art pieces (once again, playing around with the Polar Coordinates tool in Photoshop.) I can’t decide which of these two images I like the best…
Do you have a favorite? If so, I’d love to hear which one you prefer, and why.
These are both cool but I think I like the first one best – not sure why it may have to do with the white background and the tops of the trees pointing outward
Thanks so much for the feedback, Nora! The top image certainly has a lighter, more open feel to to it :-).
The are both great images. Like nora I like the first one the better. It feels more optimistic and open. Maybe because it’s more like the shape of the earth with the trees growing out from the centre. Both pictures have wonderful colours.
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment on this post! I agree that the top image has a more organic feel to it, and a sense of lightness.
I love them both. At first glance, the first one reminded me of a vase full of yellow biscuitroot flowers. The second seems to draw me in like the entrance to a magical kingdom. Maybe Narnia or Alice’s wonderland. They again are very kaleidoscopish. I think I might just have to experiment with polar coordinates. You have inspired me to try something new with my photography.
I agree that the second one feels a bit like falling down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland! I still can’t decide which I like better :-). So glad you’ve been inspired to try the PC tool on PS – good luck!
Beautiful and I prefer the second.
Thanks for the feedback, Laura! Looks like it’s a tie right now between the two techniques…
