The winter solstice has always been special to me as a barren darkness that gives birth to a verdant future beyond imagination, …like a monarch butterfly masterfully extracting itself from the confines of its cocoon, bursting forth into unexpected glory. – Gary Zukav
FOCUS: Winter Solstice
This morning when we awoke everything was quiet, frozen and beautiful. A heavy fog blanketed the sun, creating the illusion of a moonrise. The whole scene was magical, and you could not have asked for a more quintessential start to winter.
The winter solstice. The shortest day of the year. The longest night. And the beginning of the sun’s journey back to us.
Gorgeous photos – believe it or not we are in the 60’s today on the Virginia coast.
Thanks, Nora. Our frosty weather is giving way to sunny skies and mild temps for Christmas, which is a bit of a disappointment – I would much prefer a white Christmas 🙂
Very nice set of images.
Thank you so much!
