It’s the Day Before the Night Before Christmas,
and I’m busy, busy, busy being good! – The Caroleers
FOCUS: Holiday
I am posting today’s photo with a wry smile on my face. You see, there is a ‘lively’ debate in my family about exactly which date on the calendar the 1960’s holiday classic song ‘The Day Before the Night Before Christmas’ is referring to (you can listen to the song here). Personally, I stand with those who believe that the day before the night before Christmas would be today, December 23rd, since the ‘night before Christmas’ is just another name for Christmas Eve, which encompasses the entire 24 hour period of December 24th. Those on the other side of the debate believe that the day before the night before Christmas would be the daytime portion December 24th. Apparently, ours is not the only family who struggles with this question every year. A quick search on the internet reveals hundreds of discussions around this very issue, with people standing very firmly in their beliefs.
Who is right? Who is wrong? Who knows… but this little holiday controversy always leads to a very interesting pre-Christmas discussion around here.
Care to cast your vote on this great debate?
Its the 24th… have a very Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring you all you wish from it…
Tsk, tsk, Bulldog – how could you disagree with me? I suppose those of you from ‘down under’ really do see things a little differently… :-)!
The day before the nite before is definitely Dec 23!!
