By plucking her petals, you do not gather the beauty of a flower.
– Rabindranath Tagore
My Christmas cactus blooms twice a year… neither of which is at Christmastime. Instead, she chooses to bloom in the spring and fall, and that is just fine with me. I get to enjoy her beauty twice a year this way.
The annual spring bloom is just about over, and as I was deadheading the old flowers this morning I was taken aback by their beauty. Even when dried and shriveled up, the vibrant hue is a sight to behold. A quick iPhone photo and edit in Photoshop was all it took to preserve this cactus’ beauty until she decides to bloom again come October.
