My little dog – a heartbeat at my feet.  – Edith Wharton

FOCUS:  Animals

My two little Havanese are slaves to routine (theirs not mine), and one activity we can always count on is a nightly ‘run like hell’ session around the house.  These sessions happen quite spontaneously.  One moment all is peaceful and quiet, and the next the house is thrown into chaos.  While my dogs are quite little (just 15lbs each), when they really get going it is a hurricane of flying fur and exuberant barking around here.  They are like Tasmanian Devils running around with speed disproportionate to their size, having numerous near misses with furniture, people and themselves.  This all ensues for several minutes (seems like hours), and then they suddenly give up chase and collapse into happy, panting, exhausted balls of fluff somewhere along their ‘race track’.  It’s as if the whole thing never happened.

It was just after one such session that I snapped this picture of them tonight. Don’t let those sweet, innocent faces fool you.  Those angelic expressions are merely a veil for their endless supply of mischief!
