It’s been a few weeks since my 2013 Project 365 came to an end. The first few days of this new year I would occasionally find myself in a panic thinking I’d forgotten to get my ‘picture of the day’. After all, it was hard to undo a daily habit that had been engraved into my routine for the past 365 days. However, those panicked feelings were quickly followed by a strange combination of relief and sadness that my Project 365 was actually over. While the end of my project has certainly freed up a few hours each day for me, I find myself now wondering what I did with that time before this project ever began. In many ways, I long for an excuse to break from my current daily routine to indulge in my creative side once again.
Nevertheless, I am glad I’ve taken a few weeks hiatus between the end of my Project 365 and my posting of this ‘Year in Review’. The break has given me a fresh perspective on my project and I’m able to look back on the year as a whole and see my strengths and areas for growth with a keen and objective eye. For the most part I am extremely proud of this project. If nothing else it is evidence of my dedication and love for photography, and proof that when I set my mind to do something it can and will be done.
While it is nearly impossible to choose my favorite photos from the entire year, I have selected several photos from various categories that stand out to me for one reason or another. Perhaps they bring back a fond memory, perhaps I learned something in their execution, perhaps they captured that ‘x’ factor, or perhaps I simply like them. I am sure that I have left out a few of my followers’ favorites, and I’ve most likely left out some photos that I will later find deserving of a spot on my list. That is just further proof that art is in the eye of the beholder and it is completely subject to the whim of one’s emotions at any given moment.
So here you go – a brief recap of my Project 365, organized into my (roughly) ‘Top 5’ in the following categories. You can click on any photo below for a direct link to that day’s blog post:

By the way, this won’t be the last you see of me. I have several other photography projects slated for 2014. Stay tuned…
Awesome selection. I’m sure it was hard to pick from. When I completed my 365 in 2012 – I felt at a loss and relieved too. I wish I had known about Word Press back then as a way to publish the photos. I developed a love for macro in the process. to keep things fresh – I have joined a couple of Flickr groups that have weekly themes and also publish here once or twice a week. I’m so glad you will continue to share your beautiful work on WP. Take care!
Thank you so much, Nora! I truly appreciate your ongoing support!
