Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon. – Doug Larson
Focus: Food
I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t like bacon. It is truly the candy of the meat world. Today, I was going to take a picture of a pretty little crocus flower – really, I swear I was. But once I started frying up the bacon for tonight’s cheeseburgers, I just knew that little ol’ crocus flower was going to have to wait for another day.
Tonight I discovered that photographing food presents its own unique issues. Humans are used to experiencing foods with all 5 senses. To wrap up that sensory extravaganza into a single photo is an interesting challenge. How does one photograph the sound of bacon sizzling in the pan, or the smoky smell that fills the kitchen while it is cooking? Is it possible to capture the complex crispy/chewy texture, or the mouth-watering salty goodness that is unique to a strip pulled hot off the griddle? The answer to those questions was my goal tonight…. did I succeed?
Now that is one good serving of food porn 🙂
My best friend doesn’t like bacon. How could I be friends with someone who doesn’t like bacon I hear you ask after the gasping has subsided. Easy. When we go out for breakfast, she gets her bacon on the side and I get her unwanted bacon. What is there not to like about that relationship?
That sounds like a perfect friendship to me!
I would say – yes – you did succeed
Really – how could I go wrong with a photo of bacon? 🙂
