You say tomato, I say tomahto…
FOCUS: Food
Continuing with my ‘taste of summer’ theme from yesterday, today I am focusing on heirloom tomatoes. Oh, how absolutely delicious they are… juicy, sweet, and oozing with flavor. They simply put the common hot house tomato to shame. I wish I could claim to have grown these particular beauties myself, but I did not. Instead I paid an arm-and-a-leg for them at the market today. No matter. They are worth their steep price. Soon I will sink my teeth into their savory deliciousness and I will relish in my wise investment as their tangy juice slowly drips down my chin. Mmmmmm. Tastes like summer.
What great memories these photos inspire. I used to work on an organic farm and my favorite time of the year was tomato harvest. We grew 40 types of heirloom tomatoes. We grew Brandywine tomatoes bigger than my head, and so juicy you had to eat them over a sink. I couldn’t get enough. Some tomatoes were so BIG, they were 30 bucks a pop. I’d gladly pay that price today, if I could get one. Great pics as usual!
What a great story, Shannon! Thanks for sharing :-).
